There's also plenty to do nearby in Crystal River. This area is surrounded by a number of state parks and nature preserves near the Gulf Coast. It's well known for being a prime location for viewing manatees in their natural habitat and is one of the few spots for scalloping along the Florida coastline. The downtown area has a number of quaint shops, plus restaurants and nightlife with live entertainment just blocks from the waterfront.
